The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland is recording all the stone sculpture produced between c.1066 and c.1200 in Great Britain and Ireland. This sculpture marks a high-point of artistic production in these islands, corresponding to the boom in high-quality building which followed the Norman Conquest, and reflecting a new set of links with mainland Europe. A good deal remains in parish churches and cathedrals, castles and museums, and much important sculpture is prey to deterioration. The CRSBI is accessible through a searchable text and image database, currently available and in ongoing development.
