British Academy lectures

For over 100 years the British Academy's public lectures have communicated the best scholarship in the humanities and social sciences to both specialists and general audiences.

Future lectures

Information on future lectures can be found via the Public Events Programme diary.

Past lectures

A record of most lectures is available - as a video or audio recording, or (in due course) as a text article (see note on the ‘Dissemination of British Academy lectures’). The available options for each lecture can be found via the lecture series lists (below).

Lecture series

Most lectures are given in established series - many of them associated with endowments received by the Academy. There are now 30 series of lectures, and 3 series of symposia - listed below. (Fuller information on the remit, frequency and nomination procedure of each series.)
