Three lectures were organised by the British Academy and
the National Gallery in association with the British Museum.
They related to the exhibition 'The
Apocalypse and the Shape of Things to Come' (17 December
1999 to 24 April 2000) at the British Museum, which examines
the pictorial tradition derived from the Book of Revelation
and its transmission through manuscript illumination, the
graphic arts and the cinema over the period of the last thousand
years.
