Participant's Biography

Baroness Hollis (DWP, Minister for Children and the Family)

Patricia Hollis was Parliamentary Under-secretary of State in the Department of Work and Pensions with responsibility for the House of Lords, 2001-05, having previously been Parliamentary Under-secretary at the Department of Social Security, 1997-2001. She was Reader in Modern History at the University of East Anglia, 1967-90. Her publications include Women in Public, 1850-1900 (1979); Ladies Elect: Women in English Local Govt 1865-1914 (1987); and Jennie Lee, A Life (1997).
