Professor Pat Thane (London)
Pat Thane is Professor of Contemporary British History at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London. Her publications include: The Foundations of the Welfare State (Longman 1982, 2nd edn. 1996); Old Age from Antiquity to Post-Modernity (co-edited with Paul Johnson, Routledge 1998); Old Age in England. Past Experiences, Present Issues (Oxford University Press 2000); and Women and Ageing in Britain since 1500 (co-edited with Lynne Botelho, Longman 2001).
