Talent and Autism

Monday 29th - Tuesday 30 September 2008

A joint British Academy and Royal Society conference convened by
Professor Uta Frith, FRS, FBA, Institute of Cognitive Development, University College London, and Dr Francesca Happé, The Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London

Exceptional talents, or so-called savant skills, are strongly associated with autistic disorders, and may occur against a background of severe intellectual impairment. They remain one of the great puzzles for cognitive neuroscience. A symposium focussed on talent and autism would begin a potentially far-reaching discussion between several disciplines.
