British Academy Literature Week
19-22 October 2009

Organised in association with the
Institute of English Studies, University of London

Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday

Leading writers, academics and practitioners come together in October in a series of events which make up the British Academy’s first Literature Week. As a new departure, three of the Academy’s established literary lectures are being brought together in an expanded programme which also features panel discussions, 'in conversation' events, and readings by well-known actors in a special Josephine Hart Poetry Hour.

Each day features a pair of linked events, starting at 5.00pm with an hour-long discussion or series of readings, followed by a short tea break, then a lecture or panel discussion at 6.30pm. If you have registered in advance please arrive no later than 4.45pm in order to guarantee your place. Please note that there is no separate entry to the second half of the programme.   Each evening ends with a reception at around 7.45pm. All the events are free and take place either at the British Academy (10 Carlton House Terrace) or at the Royal Society (6-9 Carlton House Terrace). Doors open at 4.30pm.
