New Frontlines of Development

Wed 10 Sep 2014, 18:00 - 19:30

Venue
The British Academy, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH

This interactive event explored issues of conflict, militarisation, human rights abuses, destruction of livelihoods, and displacement in resource-rich developing countries. Looking at the relationship between these issues and the extractive industries, this event used short videos and live performances to highlight community struggles and showcase efforts for alternative forms of development. The event directly addressed themes of corporate accountability and developmental alternatives in the build-up to the expiry of the Millenium Development goals in 2015.

This event was organised in collaboration with Spoken Work Educators Programme and War on Want.
The event was organised in conjunction with the British Academy conference After 2015: Development and its Alternatives.
