The British Academy Centenary Conference

3-4 July 2002

This conference is the focus of the celebrations of the Academy's centenary; the Academy's centenary Annual General Meeting will take place on 5 July.

The programme at the British Museum on Wednesday 3 July is intended to examine two areas of general interest. Sir Keith Thomas will chair the morning session, which will consider the dialogue between past and present. During the afternoon, Professor Amartya Sen will chair a session examining issues surrounding the concept of globalisation.

On Thursday 4 July, a one-day conference at the British Academy will examine the current and future role of academies, concentrating first on the national context, and then on the role of academies internationally.

Attendance at the Centenary Conference is by invitation only.
