FoleyRobert Foley is Professor of Human Evolution at the University of Cambridge, Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies, and a Fellow of King’s College. He read Palaeolithic Archaeology at the University of Cambridge, and carried out his doctoral research there, on later African prehistory. He has carried out research across a range of topics in human evolution and prehistory, focusing in particular on evolutionary and behavioural ecology. He has published on a wide range of topics, including the evolution of culture and the ecological energetics of human cognitive evolution. His books include Another Unique Species (1987), Humans Before Humanity (1995), and Principles of Human Evolution (2003). In addition to these and other books, he has also published numerous papers on human evolution. His current research, with Marta Mirazon Lahr, is on the evolution of modern humans and their diversity, and includes work on the patterns and processes underlying the diversification of the human species, integrating biological, ecological and cultural approaches. |
