A critic of nineteenth-century poetry, women's writing and literary theory, Professor Armstrong has authored three critical monographs: the most recent, The Radical Aesthetic was pub-lished in 2000. She has also edited the Oxford anthology of Nineteenth-Century Women Poets, and is the co-founder and editor of the journal Women: a Cultural Review.
