Notes for Applicants for Elie Kedourie Memorial Fund Awards

Purpose of grant
The aims of the Elie Kedourie Memorial Fund are to promote the study of Middle Eastern and Modern European History, and the History of Political Thought. Grants are available to support any aspect of research, including travel and publication costs.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from scholars of any nationality engaged in original research intended for publication. Applicants should be of postdoctoral status, or have comparable experience. Postgraduate students are not eligible to apply.
Level of grant
In general, awards do not exceed £1,000. For UK residents, an application to this Fund for travel costs may be combined (on the same form) with an application for a Small Research Grant for other costs, up to a total of £7,500. Applicants based outside the UK are not eligible to apply for additional support, but are welcome to apply for a grant up to the normal limit of £1,000.
Duration of award
Awards are normally tenable for up to 12 months.
How to apply
Applications should be made on the standard British Academy Small Research Grant form. Applicants should observe the general regulations for Small Research Grants (described in the notes attached to the application form) except where they differ from the terms of the Elie Kedourie Fund, as described on this page.
