Directory of Research Interests of Current and Former British Academy Postdoctoral Fellows

Introduction

The British Academy offers a scheme for Postdoctoral Fellowships designed to enable outstanding recently postdoctoral scholars who have not yet obtained a permanent academic post to pursue an approved programme of research and to gain some experience of teaching in an institution of higher education with the intention of enhancing their prospects of future academic employment. Since the first competition was held in 1986, over 700 Postdoctoral Fellowships have been awarded.

The Academy takes a great interest and pride in the developing careers of its current and former PDFs, and considerable efforts are made to maintain contact with as many of them as possible. This directory represents a concrete expression of this interest. It serves as a wonderful tribute to the success of the scheme, both to the individual excellence of the award-holders, and, collectively, to the enormous range of research of the scheme.
