Listing of awards

The Academy lists on its web site the awards made in each of the funding programmes. Lists are compiled and published annually on the web site, at the conclusion of each academic session. Additionally, results of individual competitions may be announced by means of a news item on the Academy's web site. Work is underway to develop a publicly searchable database of grants by keyword or subject classification.

Statistical information: monitoring

For all its programmes, the Academy collects information on applications and awards in the following categories: age, gender, institutional affiliation by type, national base, discipline (that is, humanities/social sciences) and subject classification.

Statistical information is reviewed regularly by each awarding Committee, to monitor the profile of applications and awards, and to analyse whether there are any imbalances.

Information is also provided to each awarding Committee on the profile of grades awarded by assessors within each subject grouping, to ensure that there are no obvious discrepancies in the standards applied in each competition.

The Research Committee, which bears overall responsibility for the programmes in aid of research, receives annual statistics, including in addition to those categories mentioned above, information on ethnicity (optionally submitted by applicants) and a breakdown by individual institution.

The 18 disciplinary Sections of the Academy periodically receive information on applications and awards by discipline and subject. Sections offer a wide range of specialisms and expertise within a specific subject grouping, which is necessarily more comprehensive than that available within any Academy awarding Committee. Sections are therefore consulted on the statistical outcomes of the grant-funding programmes and asked to review and advise on the Academy's performance in attracting applications from its core constituency.

Statistical information: dissemination

For all its programmes, the Academy collects information on applications and awards in the following categories: age, gender, institutional affiliation, national base, discipline (that is, humanities/social sciences) and subject classification.

Statistics are produced at the end of each academic session, and are available on the web site on the statistics page. Work is underway to develop a publicly accessible dynamic interface with the grants database for users to call up statistics, setting their own parameters.

Career Tracking

The Academy tracks the career paths of those who receive Postdoctoral Fellowships. A register of current and former Academy PDFs is maintained, listing their current appointments, research interests and publications. The electronic version is publicly accessible via the Academy's web site, and print versions are periodically produced.
