British Academy

Policy Advisory Committee

The Committee enables the Academy to represent the humanities and social sciences nationally and internationally.  The Committee draws widely on the expertise within the Fellowship, including the two Groups, composed of the Section Chairmen.  It takes the lead in responding on behalf of the Academy to consultation on matters relating to the Academy’s interests and initiates representations to external bodies in the name of the Academy.

Terms of reference

The Committee enables the Academy to represent the humanities and social sciences nationally and internationally. The Committee draws widely on the expertise within the Fellowship, principally through the Standing Committees for the two Groups, composed of the Section Chairmen.

The terms of reference for the Policy Advisory Committee are:

  • to take the lead in responding on behalf of the Academy to consultations on matters relating to the Academy’s interests; and
  • to initiate representations to external bodies in the name of the Academy.

The Chief Executive/Secretary is ex officio a member of all Academy committees
