British Academy elects new Fellows and welcomes new President

At its Annual General Meeting (16 July 2009), the Academy elected 48 new Fellows, elected for their distinguished achievement in the humanities and social sciences. Coming from all corners of the UK as well as from overseas, these Fellows represent the full range of the Academy's disciplines, including social policy, several branches of law, literature from earliest times in English and other languages, history, international relations, cognitive psychology and economics -see list of elections for full details

At the same meeting, Professor Sir Adam Roberts (left) took over from Baroness Onora O'Neill as President of the Academy, and other officers took up their posts - an updated list of officers is available online.
