The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has been conducting a consultation on ‘Measuring national well-being’ (www.ons.gov.uk/well-being). The consultation formally ended on 15 April 2011. As this consultation drew to a close, the ONS and the British Academy brought together a group of senior academics and policy-makers to take a first look at the feedback that had been received, and to discuss how to carry forward plans for measuring national well-being. The discussion was opened by Paul Allin (Director of the ONS’s National Well-being Programme) and Professor Paul Dolan.
