‘Family lives and environmental issues’
Recorded at the British Academy Soirée, Tuesday 28 June 2016
At a time of international concern about climate change and environmental pollution, questions of how best to address and reverse such changes have become critical. Many of the solutions proposed are individual and underpinned by the assumption that, if people understand the issues, they will alter their everyday practices. Some of these solutions focus on children as citizens of the future who can inform and persuade their parents. A major shortcoming of such approaches, however, is that they have no clear conceptualisation of how people experience their everyday environments and what influences their environmental practices.
