Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the British Academy

Since its earliest years, the British Academy has published extended obituaries (memoirs) of deceased Fellows of the British Academy. Collectively the biographical memoirs of the British Academy make up a chapter in the intellectual history of Britain, and are used as a source by biographers and historians.

Up to 2011, these memoirs were published annually within the Proceedings of the British Academy series. From 2012, they are published in a separate series of Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the British Academy. There is still an annual volume, but the memoirs will also build into an open-access online resource.
