British Academy says report makes "important contribution" to education debate

26 Jun 2014

The British Academy has welcomed today's Royal Society report Vision for science and mathematics education as an important contribution to the continued discussion about the future of the country's education system, and how the UK can provide the best pathways for students at all levels of education.

The British Academy's Chief Executive, Dr Robin Jackson, said: "Alongside the vital contribution of the STEM disciplines, the study of humanities and social sciences deliver the broad curriculum which will skill and equip our students as this country's future workforce. It is important, both at present and in the future, to recognise the essential role these disciplines play in helping us understand some of the greatest challenges of our time from climate change to ageing, as well as the contribution they make to innovation, economic prosperity and the place of the UK in the world."
