Europe divided? New report to examine the inner workings within Europe

19 May 2017

The British Academy has published a new report: European Union and Disunion

In November 2016, the British Academy organised a conference called 'European Union and Disunion: What has held Europeans together and what is dividing them? The conference brought together academics, policymakers, officials, practitioners and members of the public.

The aim of European Union and Disunion is to explore, discuss and publicise some of the narratives and sentiments that at different times have aided or compromised the imagining and workings of Europe.

This will be achieved by engaging with and unpacking some of the constitutive stories of identity and meaning that in the past and present have helped bring together and divide Europeans.
