The Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain

The Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain, founded in 1964, is a learned society that promotes the study, teaching and application of philosophy of education. The Society organises and supports conference and seminars, many organised by its network of over 20 regional branches in the UK and beyond. The Society also supports research and scholarship in the field through its grants scheme.

The purpose of the Society is to promote, for the public benefit, the advancement and teaching of Philosophy of Education. In furtherance of this objective, but not further or otherwise, the Society shall have the following powers:

  • To arrange and provide for meetings and conferences on subjects of general and special interest to Philosophy of Education.
  • To keep a register of members, their qualifications and appointments.
  • To provide for the publication of the Journal of Philosophy of Education.
